The ARM Project, in collaboration with Panteion University, hosted a roundtable on disinformation and the freedom of expression, focusing on comparative European experiences in global perspectives.
The discussion brought together international and Greek experts to explore practices of information control in both authoritarian and non-authoritarian contexts.
Key questions included:
- How does information control function in practice?
- Is information control and suppression exclusive to authoritarian regimes?
- How do propaganda techniques differ between liberal and illiberal democracies?
- What risks do journalists and activists face in Greece, Europe, and the United States?
- What dangers threaten democracy itself in this environment?
The aim of the event was to map the presence of suppression practices both locally and globally, identify effective countermeasures, and contribute to the broader debate on safeguarding freedom of expression in today’s political and digital landscape.
